Ozzy's New Band Rehearses With 9-Year-Old Guitar Prodigy
Video footage of nine-year-old guitar prodigy Yuto Miyazawa rehearsing with OZZY OSBOURNE and his new band on Thursday, August 20 can be viewed below. Miyazawa will join Ozzy and the rest of his current group — guitarist Gus G. (FIREWIND), drummer Tommy Clufetos (ROB ZOMBIE, ALICE COOPER, TED NUGENT), bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson (bass; ROB ZOMBIE) and Adam Wakeman (keyboards) — at the closing concert of this year's BlizzCon on Saturday, August 22 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California to perform the Osbourne classic "Crazy Train".
OZZY OSBOURNE issued a statement on Friday (August 21) confirming reports that longtime Osbourne musicians Zakk Wylde (guitar) and Mike Bordin (drums) would not be joining him for the BlizzCon performance due to their current touring commitments with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and FAITH NO MORE, respectively.
In addition to his current axe-slinging duties with FIREWIND, Gus (real name: Kostas Karamitroudis) has played in MYSTIC PROPHECY, NIGHTRAGE, ARCH ENEMY and DREAM EVIL.
Miyazawa performed "Crazy Train" on the May 11, 2009 episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show". Yuto was then surprised when Ozzy himself was brought out to meet the boy.
Born February 21, 2000 in Tokyo, Japan, Yuto Miyazawa has been playing guitar since the ripe age of three. Although he has had a few guitar lessons, the bulk of his expertise comes from truly wanting to play… all the time. Generally, if he is not in school, he has a guitar in his hands. That love of guitar is quickly making Yuto the Internet's latest addiction, as his videos rack up views on YouTube and Vimeo, and his name is scattered across hundreds of forums and blogs.
Yuto's influences are fairly apparent, as he usually seen playing his custom Randy Rhoads-style, polka dot flying V guitar, which dwarfs him. Along with Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhoads, Yuto is influenced by Eric Clapton, KISS and METALLICA.
After playing multiple variety shows in Japan, Yuto made his first trip to the States in May 2008 when he played with a few big names at various clubs in Manhattan. In his short stint in the U.S. Yuto was a hot commodity. He played with Les Paul at The Iridium, two nights later he hopped onstage with GE Smith and Moonalice at Rebel, and finally he headed over to B.B King Blues Club & Grill to play with GALACTIC.
Yuto is now recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's youngest professional guitar player.

Concert Review: Green Day 8/11/09 @ Scottrade Center
What do you do if your band's touring in support of a new album, but you have 15 years of pop-punk hits to please the non-teenagers in the audience?
If you're Green Day, you pack it all into a two-plus-hour set, playing the songs that are on the radio now and the ones we remember from 1994.
That's exactly what the California trio did Tuesday night at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, devoting about a third of its blistering, 28-song show to the new "21st Century Breakdown" CD and focusing the rest of the time on the antics and anthems that put Green Day on the map.
Guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool got some help on stage from three supporting musicians, who played everything from keys to accordion, as well as from some lucky audience members whom Armstrong pulled up to sing with him.
Armstrong's usual showmanship was in full effect as he sprayed the crowd with a water gun, led "Heyyy-oh!" chants and found ways to slip "St. Louis" into songs over and over again, always to raucous cheers.
In many ways, it was similar to the band's show at Mississippi Nights on Laclede's Landing 15 years ago -- and countless Green Day shows since -- when "Dookie" had propelled the three punk-rock teens into superstardom. Back then, a Post-Dispatch review noted that the sold-out crowd (1,000) at Mississippi Nights screamed loudest when Armstrong spit into the air and caught it in his mouth.
There was no spitting Tuesday night -- like their music, the guys in Green Day seem to have matured a bit -- but Armstrong mooned his admirers a few times. The 20,000-capacity Scottrade Center was closer to half full than sold out, but it didn't stop Green Day from playing a tight, high-energy and flawless show that kept the crowd wanting more.
And what a crowd it was. There were 6-year-olds (Armstrong pulled a little girl named Allison onto the stage and protected her from boos when she announced she's from Chicago) at their first Green Day show and middle-age fans wearing band T-shirts from the early '90s.
Green Day had something for all of them, from the explosive, sing-along new stuff like "21st Century Breakdown" and "Know Your Enemy" to older, rarer gems like "2,000 Light Years Away" and "Coming Clean."
After tearing through more favorites from "Dookie" such as "She," "Longview" and "Basket Case," the band finished its regular set with hit single "21 Guns" and "American Eulogy" from the new CD.
The guys returned for a two-song encore, then Dirnt and Cool left Armstrong alone with an acoustic guitar for a three-song second encore, closing with "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)."
Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand played a solid opening act that showcased its catchy hooks. But when you open for a band like Green Day, it's hard to be remembered at the end of the night.
